This ve'a is handmade by our tambu - in law Margaret Ono in Inauabui, Mekeo PNG
A strap that can be worn on the shoulder, across the body or over the head -PNG style shown by Margarets daughter Suki in the village. A classic Margaret Ono style of bold colour. Also pictured is Margaret with her mother finishing off the straps
Yellow, red, blue, white, purple and green cross combination with mixed designs of H, diamond and crosses.
Care
The amazing thing about these fishing line ve'a - bilums is the longevity. Hasu has some in her collection that are over 60 years old.
Our sisters in the village would say use OMO and a scrubbing brush! You can simply soak the ve'a in a bucket of water with some washing liquid or powder, give them a scrub and they will come up beautifully.
